2022 is looking pretty damn good. All the lost gigs of lockdowns are scattering over the months of the coming year, resurrecting our favourite venues and bringing some life back to the city. Adding to the list of upcoming tours, household name The Strokes have announced they’re coming down to Melbourne and Sydney next July.
The New York outfit released their sixth album The New Abnormal last year, to rave reviews and a Grammy win that excited us for their much-needed return after a seven-year hiatus. Packed with monstrous indie bops like ‘The Adults Are Talking’ and ‘Bad Decisions’, the latest album solidified how and why the band have stayed relevant since their acclaimed 2001 debut Is This It.
Joining The Strokes are Sydney-based psychedelic band The Lazy Eyes, whose growing catalogue of hypnotic tracks resemble that of Tame Impala. Aussie rock band The Chats also join to open and are sure to attract a keen mosh-pit. It’s a pretty good package deal — a psychedelic trip, sloshing Aussie rock fans and the unbelievable indie vibe of The Strokes. Yeah, don’t miss this one
Tickets for both Melbourne and Sydney shows go on sale Tuesday November 9th to the general public.
