2021 Alliance Francaise French Film Festival

Written by Molly Magennis / @mollymag3

This year marks the 32nd edition of the Alliance Francaise French Film Festival here in Australia, and the good news is it is coming to a Palace Cinema near you this March!

From 3 March to 31 March, Melbournians have the chance to revel in the magic which is French cinema, an opportunity we sadly missed out on last year in July due to COVID-19 restrictions.

But fear not, with 37 hand-selected films on offer this year for your viewing pleasure, whether you’re into documentaries, comedies, love stories or thrillers, you are sure to find something of interest at the French Film Festival.

Those who work in our local cinemas and in the film industry at large need our support now more than ever, so why not grab some tickets and see a couple of films over the long weekend? You won’t regret it.

My top picks for the festival:

  • Boîte Noire / Black Box (Drama/Thriller)
  • Petite Fille / Little Girl (Documentary)
  • Adieu les cons / Bye Bye Morons (Drama/ Dark Comedy)
